Welcome to The Quirky Hide,  a place where leather meets imagination, and every piece has a story to tell.

 

I’m Jules, the maker behind the magic, and I’ve always had a love for crafting beautiful, useful things by hand.

Inspired by my family and fuelled by creativity (and plenty of tea), I now spend my days turning sustainably sourced leather into pieces that are practical, personal, and full of character.

 

Here’s how it all began...From a young age, I’ve always loved creating – and it was my Mum, Dad, and Nan who first sparked that passion. Their encouragement gave me the confidence to explore craft in many forms, from floristry and sewing to a whole world of making.

 

After years of experimenting with different materials and techniques, I decided to return to sewing – and it was a bag-making workshop that truly reignited the fire. That workshop led to an upgraded machine, late nights recycling fabrics, and the pure joy of turning something old into something beautifully new.

 

With the support of friends and family (and a nudge from the universe), The Quirky Hide was born.

 

The name reflects my love for individuality, storytelling, and making things that feel truly special. It’s also my way of honouring the memory of my wonderful Nan,  the original maker in the family, whose spirit still inspires me every day.

 

And then there’s Fred Furnace my trusty dragon mascot, keeper of the workshop, and spark of mischief in all that I do.

Fred embodies the fiery creativity, imagination, and bit of quirk that runs through every piece.

 

Today, I focus on leathercraft, combining traditional techniques with a modern twist to create pieces that are practical, playful, and full of character.

 

Each one is made by hand, with care, skill, and just a touch of dragon magic.
